The Consulate General of India, Osaka-Kobe aims at fostering an Indian Community network in Prefectures under its charge. Accordingly, Indians/PIOs in Western Japan are encouraged to stay in touch with both the Consulate and each other through such informal groups.
Apart from providing a platform for cultural engagement, these groups can also promote Indian culture and values through social, cultural, recreational and community programs, thereby uniting the Indian Community.
The groups will help the Consulate disseminate information on planned cultural activities by organisations or associations. Members from one group may be benefitted by cross-posting of such information in other groups, helping in publicity.
The groups can also help newly arriving individuals gain their bearings, give an opportunity to explore Japan, and provide interesting nuggets of information and opportunities available in Western Japan.
The Osaka University Students Association is especially useful for those interested in studying in Japan, courses of interest and campus life. Indian Student associations from other Prefectures/Universities are encouraged to enlist themselves here.
Such groups can also help the Consulate remain in touch during natural disasters and such other emergencies.
